HUDSON, Fla.— The Pasco County community convened in gloom and solidarity at Veterans Memorial Park, as candles were lit in remembrance of a family now feared lost. The vigil, reported by NY1, included Phillip Zilliot II, 25; Rain Mancini, 26; and their children, Phillip Zilliot III, 5, and Karma Zilliot, 6. These four souls have been missing since June 12, their absence a gaping wound in the fabric of Hudson, a community grappling with the possibility of a heinous crime.
Held on the heels of these disquieting disappearances, as documented by WFLA, the vigil saw residents echoing the sorrow of Richard Paquette, who said, "It's somber. A lot of people are not wanting to talking about it too much. It's rough." With years shared working alongside Zilliot II in landscaping, Paquette told ABC Action News, "Who kills kids?" – a question hanging heavy over Hudson.
The circumstances surrounding the family's disappearance took a distressing turn when human remains, suspected to belong to the Zilliots, were discovered in a fire pit on their former roommate Rory Atwood's property. Atwood, 25, has since been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, according to WFLA. With the remains yet to be formally identified, a community holds its breath, yearning for closure.
The Pasco Sheriff’s Office, haunted by the atrocity they have unearthed, continues their investigation, combing through the ashes for answers. Shelly Zilliot revealed her heartbreak to NY1, "I'm so broken right now. And I have to go on because I have my daughter and two other grandchildren." This devastating loss, punctuated by the ongoing vigil, exposes the raw edges of a neighborhood mourning collectively, each candle a silent testament to the lives they fear have been extinguished.
