Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) confirmed the discovery of human remains at a wastewater collection point off Lexington Road near Ennis Joslin yesterday. The remains were located at a lift station, which according to Senior Officer Antonio Contreras, is approximately 40 feet deep and was filled with wastewater that required draining before retrieval efforts could commence, as reported by KENS 5.
Speculation has been rising online regarding the identity of the discovered remains, due to their proximity to Harris' apartment complex. However, there has been no confirmation that the remains are related to the disappearance of Caleb Harris, as noted by KRIS 6 News. The site, which is not accessible for someone to accidentally walk and fall into, is located underground and was discovered by a City water employee.
Randy Harris, father of the missing Caleb Harris, confirmed that the family has been informed of the find. "We have been made aware of Monday’s developments," he mentioned, underscoring the grim wait faced by the family as they anticipate the conclusions of the medical examiner's analysis. In the meantime, the CCPD declined to confirm the identity of the remains until formal assessments are concluded.
Present at the scene was Police Chief Mike Markle, overseeing the operations as the medical examiners worked onsite. The process to identify the remains promises to be methodical and thorough, with updates expected to follow once new information emerges.
