Residents of League City can now sign up for the curbside Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) pickup service provided by AmeriWaste. According to an announcement on League City's official website, the schedule for these pickups is open for a limited window, with calls being accepted from June 10 through June 30 to add addresses to the pickup list.

This year, the service includes four curbside HHW pickup events. However, there are some limitations on what can be set out on the curb. For an event happening the week of July 8-13, AmeriWaste has specified that they will collect televisions, electronics, microwaves, and appliances. The items to be disposed of must be from residential customers only who have made the preliminary call to AmeriWaste at 281-331-8400 or 281-585-3200 to ensure their address is on an appointment callback list.

Items that won't be making the pickup cut include hazardous chemicals, batteries, business waste, or medical and radioactive wastes, among others. These unaccepted items also count ammunition, explosives, compressed gas cylinders, and smoke detectors. Residents holding on to these materials will have the chance to dispose of them at the later HHW event at Hometown Heroes, scheduled for September 14, where a wider array of hazardous items will be accepted.

AmeriWaste will not be picking up any items from residents who haven't called ahead of time to schedule a pickup. Once on the list, the company promises to reach out via call or email to provide customers with their specific pickup day. It's a straightforward way to rid your home of unwanted electronics and appliances without having to haul them yourself, all the while knowing they will be disposed of responsibly.
