As temperatures in Lewisville continue to soar, local authorities are stepping up to provide residents with relief from the blistering heat. The city has established several cooling center locations where individuals can escape the scorching weather and find respite in the shade or air-conditioned facilities. The Lewisville Public Library and The Salvation Army Lewisville are the two primary centers offering this much-needed service to the community.
According to the Lewisville Police Department, cooling center locations are now open to the public. Residents are encouraged to "Drink plenty of fluids, stay in shady or cool areas, and check on your neighbors and family." The Lewisville Public Library, located at 1197 West Main Street, Lewisville TX, will welcome citizens from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday to Saturday while being closed on Sundays.
The Salvation Army Lewisville, situated at 880 Fox Avenue, has also opened its doors as part of the initiative. Their facility will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. These centers provide a crucial service for the community, particularly for those without other means to cool off during the day. Health authorities often emphasize the risk of heat-related illnesses during such high-temperature events and endorse the use of these centers to prevent such outcomes.
