This Saturday, Liberty Christian School transforms into a hub for family-oriented safety education and fun, thanks to a collaboration with the Argyle Police Department. The 4th Annual Child Safety Fair, which is free to the public, promises a bevy of resources on crucial topics including water, guns, fire safety, poison prevention, and more.
The fair's not just about the serious stuff – families can enjoy a water slide, water gun arena, and even a dunk tank, among other attractions. The event, according to a post by Denton County Emergency Services District #1 on Facebook, also includes giveaways of booster seats, bike helmets, life jackets, and other safety gear "all at no cost while they last."
Beyond the fun and games, the fair serves a practical purpose. Attendees can get their hands on free gun lock boxes, and drug lock boxes, to bolster home safety measures. First responders will also be on-site with police vehicles, fire trucks, a drone van, and a helicopter landing to showcase the tools of their lifesaving trades.
To sweeten the deal, the first 500 snow cones at the event are on the house. And for the philanthropically minded, there's a silent auction with proceeds benefiting Denton County Friends of the Family. Bids can be placed in advance through a link provided by Denton County Emergency Services District #1, with the auction running until the following Monday.
