The Austin Community College District is leveling up its dental hygiene program at the Eastview Campus, and it's brought Linbeck Group, LLC on board to steer the construction. According to an announcement made during their May board meeting, which was shared by ACC Newsroom, the trustees unanimously nodded in favor of Linbeck to take on the role of construction manager at risk (CMAR) for this initiative.
Linbeck isn't new to the educational construction rodeo; they've successfully tackled projects for Southwestern University and Texas Christian University, among others. Tasked now with Building 8000's expansion, Linbeck is expected to not only manage construction but also to catch design snafus and keep the dollars and deadlines in check. With an estimated $5 million marked for construction costs, the project sails under the $8.6 million budget balloon for the complete venture. It's all hands on deck at ACC as a seven-member team of employees, after sifting through 10 proposals, put the top three under the microscope before selecting Linbeck.
Hoping to keep tabs on where the money's flowing? The 2022 General Obligation (GO) Bond, which fluffed the Eastview Campus's financial pillow by $15 million for tech and facility enhancements, will cough up the dough for this project. It's the first in line for the campus under this bond. The broader strokes and minutia of the 2022 bond projects aren't tucked away in some dusty corner, either. They're on display for public viewing on the ACC's 2022 Bond website.
