Starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 7, and extending to Monday, June 10, both the westbound and eastbound main lanes of Interstate 10 will be shut down. This will also affect the entrance and exit ramps, the westbound frontage road of Loop 1604, and the Loop 1604 eastbound entrance and exit ramps.
The closure comes as part of the ongoing expansion project for I-10, which aims to eventually to greatly improve mobility and lessen traffic congestion. Detours are in place, with drivers being redirected via La Cantera Parkway, UTSA Boulevard, and Vance Jackson Road. For those planning to hit popular spots like The Rim or Six Flags, they'll need to navigate these alternate routes or find a different detour altogether.
As reported by KENS 5, the main lanes of Loop 1604 will remain open throughout the construction. However, access from Loop 1604 to I-10 will be more complicated. Drivers wishing to join I-10 from the Loop will have to seek alternative exits or use the U-turn at La Cantera Parkway.
