Milton is officially gearing up to go all out for its upcoming Independence Day Walking Parade and Celebration. Slated for July 4, which marks a change from the previous years when the event didn't quite synch up with the actual holiday, this vibrant and spirited affair promises to bring the community together in a spectacular show of patriotism. As reported by the City of Milton's official announcement, festivities will kick off at 10 a.m. at Broadwell Pavilion, inviting participants to dress to impress in their best red, white, and blue.

Families looking to showcase their patriotic pride can step right into the costume contest starting at 10 a.m., with judging categories including Most Patriotic, Most Creative, and Most Coordinated Family, among others. Those in attendance at the daring mid-morning start can grab a snapshot in a booth sponsored by the local real estate mavericks, the Reid Casey Team. Mayor Peyton Jamison is set to inaugurate the march at 11:15 a.m., with the anthem to be belted out by Solo Lowit, according to the City of Milton's press release.

The Walking Parade is literally taking steps off at 11:30 a.m. Police Chief Jason Griffin is expected to lead a cavalcade featuring stroller-pushing parents, kids on festooned bikes, and a bevy of enthusiastic pedestrians following a merry 15-minute route. Then noon strikes and it’s time for the Patriotic Dance Party under Broadwell Pavilion, where attendees can get their hands on glowsticks and beads, and the winners of the earlier contests will be announced.

The event officially winds down at 1 p.m., but there’s plenty of fun packed into those three hours. Local food vendors will be on hand to serve up treats ranging from Kona Ice cups to Brewable cake pops. Additionally, as stated by the City of Milton, there will be face painting, a bubble machine, and a bounce house for the kids. If you develop an appetite for something more substantial, the Milton Fire Corps will be grilling up burgers and hot dogs.

Remember, Broadwell Road is expected to close from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the festivities, so plan to adjust travel routes accordingly. Those with further inquiries can reach out to the City of Milton’s Community Outreach Manager, Emily Salerno, at [email protected]. Given the local businesses and public services coming together, this July 4 at Milton is shaping up to quite memorably celebrate America’s birthday.
