Mineral Wells has officially joined the growing list of Music Friendly Texas Certified Communities, a title given by the Texas Music Office. As reported by the Governor's Office, this designation recognizes the town's effort to boost the local music industry and its potential for economic growth and job creation. Governor Greg Abbott extended his congratulations, remarking, "Music is key to the Texas brand and is deeply rooted in the cultural traditions of our great state."
The certification is more than just a title; it paves the way to actively draw and further develop the music business in the area. The Texas Music Industry already shows robust stats, claiming over 192,000 jobs and generating more than $26 billion annually. In his statement, Abbott expresses hopes to "continue to work alongside communities in every region of our state to amplify their growth and success."
Senator Phil King highlighted the tangible benefits for Mineral Wells, hinting at its rich artistic pool and established music venues that make it an integral part of Texas' musical landscape. "Mineral Wells now joins with other recognized communities across our great state in celebrating the best of live music in Texas," King said. A ceremony to commemorate this designation will be held at the Flying Pig Festival on June 14 as revealed in the Governor's Office announcement.
The local impact has been the highlight for many city officials, including Mineral Wells Mayor Regan Johnson, who emphasized the partnership's value with the state: "It also supports music on a local level and artists from all over, and we are excited to promote and be a part of the program," Johnson told the Governor's Office. Brittany Brown, the Main Street Manager and Music Friendly Liaison, also expressed delight at witnessing the town's journey towards securing this accolade. "From the musicians, venues, and Music Friendly Board to city officials, each person has played a pivotal role in shaping our town's musical identity," Brown stated.
The designation signals a partnership that aims to leverage music as a vital social and economic engine. Seth Hobbs, the Chamber of Commerce President/CEO, underscored this vision: "Together, we're driving towards a future where Mineral Wells shines as a vibrant hub for music enthusiasts and industry," Hobbs shared with the Governor's Office. The community's recognition adds it to a network of over 60 Music Friendly Texas locations, each committed to nurturing its unique musical culture and economy.
