Three years after a fatal crash that claimed the life of a Nashville man, authorities have arrested and charged William Tribue in connection with the incident, as WSMV reports. On the early morning of June 3, 2021, a 2016 Dodge Charger was involved in a single-vehicle accident on West Trinity Avenue and Youngs Lane, the Metro Nashville Police Department responded to the scene where two individuals had been ejected from the vehicle, one of them was Tribue, and the other, Zavier Dunlap, 30, who died at the scene.
Donzell White, a passenger in the backseat, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, White initially told the officers that Tribue was driving during the crash; Tribue, however, denied being the driver but further investigation by the police including a drug screening revealed the presence of cannabinoids, cocaine and benzodiazepine in his system, according to the arrest report obtained by WSMV. Officers determined that the car had been traveling at speeds just over 104 mph before it left the roadway and overturned; the excessive speed and Tribue's condition were critical factors leading to Dunlap’s death.
As per FOX17, Zavier Dunlap, who was 23 years old at the time, did not survive the high-impact crash which resulted from the car running off the road; Metro Police arrested Tribue over the weekend in Rutherford County, a considerable time after the accident first occurred.
Furthermore, the WKRN coverage notes the Dodge Charger was traveling at 104 mph just 2.4 seconds before the fatal event, pointing to the severity of Tribue's alleged negligence, apart from the vehicular homicide, vehicular assault charges, Tribue is also facing a charge of domestic assault in an unrelated case, marking a series of legal challenges for the Nashville man following the tragic events of that early June morning.
