On June 4, residents of Highland Park and local officials gathered for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new Paula Titus Park in Roxbury, as reported by the City of Boston's official website. The park, located at 66 Fort Avenue, spans 8,000 square feet and was funded through a mix of Community Preservation Act dollars and the city's capital budget, totaling $885,000.

The idea for the park was first proposed by Charlie Titus, Paula Titus's widower and a former Associate Parks Commissioner, as a tribute to his late wife. Paula Titus, who passed after a battle with cancer, was known for her dedication to the community and service with the Inspectional Services Department. Mayor Michelle Wu lauded the space saying, "We in the City recognize that parks are about so much more than just having some green space. It is about the heart and soul of our community and the feeling that this is your home,” which she conveyed during the opening event.

Design plans for Paula Titus Park began in 2021, with community feedback playing a major role in its features. The park now includes a pergola, porous pavers, tables, benches, and a dedicated play area for young children. There's also a nod to the neighborhood's cultural diversity, with Cape Verdean patterns engraved in stones. Charlie Titus expressed his gratitude, noting, "My family and I are extremely grateful to Mayor Wu, Parks Commissioner Ryan Woods and his staff for making the vision of our family matriarch a reality,”.

Ryan Woods, Boston Parks Commissioner, praised the space reflecting Paula's life, explaining that "Paula was a leader and mentor to everyone in her community. This park will represent her way of living, with peaceful and active spaces seamlessly woven together. It reflects Paula's and the Titus family's legacy. This park is a true testament to what we can achieve when we come together as a community."
