Crews descended upon the scene at approximately 4:30 p.m. to confront the raging blaze that originated in the garage of one of the homes, residents were hastily evacuated from all affected homes and, in a stroke of fortune amidst calamity, no injuries were reported, the San Jose Police Department reported to KRON4, high temperatures and unexpected gusts of wind fanned the flames, contributing to their rapid spread.
The incident has caused considerable disruption, with traffic heavily impacted around the neighborhood. Authorities are urging the public to steer clear of the area to facilitate emergency operations. Quimby Road and Sand Point Drive, now etched into the community's memory as the site of the disaster, lie just a mile south of Cunningham Lake—a landmark typically associated with tranquility now shadowed by this recent turmoil.
As the Fire Department's exhaustive efforts continue, fire crews are anticipated to remain entrenched in their positions well into the evening to ensure the fires are thoroughly extinguished and to prevent any potential resurgence.
