For those who frequent this particular corridor, notable disruptions include the full closure of both lanes along 15th Avenue Southwest and barricaded access to Water Street from the South Capitol Neighborhood. The paving operation is scheduled to strike its first stone at 7 a.m. sharp on Wednesday, June 5, and aims to smooth things over by the end of Thursday, June 6, according to DES officials.
As is the way of such undertakings, the orchestration of the paving is at the mercy of the skies — all work is contingent on fair weather. Hoffman Construction, based out of Seattle, shoulders the responsibility of executing the task at hand, under contract with the State Department of Enterprise Services, as noted in an announcement made on June 4th.
