
Early Saturday morning, an incident at a northeast Austin Waffle House turned deadly, marking Austin's 25th homicide of the year. The Austin Police Department is investigating a homicide following reports of shots fired at the Waffle House located on the 12300 block of Dessau Road. According to KVUE, officers arrived around 6 a.m. and found two victims with gunshot wounds.
Both individuals were transported to a local hospital, where one was pronounced dead, while the other remained in stable condition. Police efforts to gather information on a suspect continue, but as of now, they have not released a description of an individual or individuals responsible. They believe this was an isolated incident and assess that there is no ongoing threat to the public, FOX 7 Austin reports.
The parking lot of the Waffle House, situated near the intersection with East Parmer Lane, became a crime scene as homicide detectives combed the area for evidence. "They do believe this is an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public," Jeremy Fisher with the Austin Police Department said in a statement. The details of what led to the shooting have not been made public.
