Commuters in San Mateo faced unexpected delays early this morning after a truck carrying a load of avocados overturned on US 101, causing traffic disruptions. The California Highway Patrol reported that the 30-foot truck blocked the express lanes and two left lanes at 3rd Avenue following the incident that occurred around 3:40 a.m. KRON4 provided details on the event, noting that the lanes were expected to remain closed for at least an hour as efforts to clear the scene got underway.
According to the CHP, the vehicle had been loaded with 16,000 pounds of avocados during the time of the crash, which also involved two other vehicles. Thankfully, most of the avocados were recovered post-accident. While one person complained of pain, no significant injuries were reported, offering a small mercy in an event of such disorderly potential. The CHP has not provided other wrangles in the story, such as the cause of the accident or the condition of the truck's driver.
