
A man and a teenager have been detained in Phoenix after being accused in a lethal robbery that left one man dead, according to local police; 19-year-old Derrick Teague and a juvenile whose name has not been released due to age considerations were arrested following weeks on the run, with Teague apprehended on June 21 and the minor the day after.
The Phoenix Police Department shared that the incident, which occurred on May 28 around 8 a.m., began as a planned robbery near 29th Street and Greenway Road but escalated fatally, resulting in the shooting death of 22-year-old Carlos Mercado Chavez, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix. Chavez was discovered by his girlfriend inside his vehicle, his life ended by gunshot wounds.
Following extensive investigations, Teague and the juvenile have been charged with multiple felony charges, including felony murder and armed robbery, the Phoenix Police Department confirmed, asserting no additional individuals are believed to be implicated in the crime; the victim, Chavez, was located by his girlfriend who made the distressing call to 911 after finding him deceased, as detailed by AZ Family.
