
In the early morning hours, a ShotSpotter alert brought Pittsburgh Police to a scene of violence in East Allegheny, as they answered a one-round alert on the 300 block of Cedar Avenue, a recent report from the police detailed the incident.
The alert, occurring just after 3:30 a.m., led officers to discover a man wounded by gunfire, sustaining a serious injury described as a "through-and-through gunshot wound to the back of his neck," according to The City of Pittsburgh Public Safety blotter. After he described an altercation with the shooter the victim, who remained unnamed, was quickly attended to by emergency medical responders and taken to a nearby hospital where he was listed in serious but stable condition.
The aftermath of the incident unfolded in the parking lot of a local Giant Eagle, where the police's Mobile Crime Unit was summoned to collect and process evidence related to the shooting, establishing the grim reality of the night's events as part of their ongoing investigation.
