A man in his 30s is now in custody following a collision that sent his truck barreling into a resident's home in the Northwest Side of San Antonio, authorities said. The incident, which took place in the early hours of Monday near Interstate 10, on the 1500 block of West Mariposa Drive, has left the residents shaken but unscathed.

According to a report by KENS 5, the San Antonio Fire Department (SAFD) and police were dispatched to the scene around 2:30 a.m. The driver had allegedly attempted to back up his pickup truck when he lost control and crashed into the house, leaving a major structural breach. Firefighters on the scene were forced to take immediate action to prevent further damage by shoring up the compromised structure. "Firefighters say he left a gaping hole in the front of the structure. There were at least four people inside the home when this occurred. Fortunately, nobody inside was hurt when it happened." KENS 5 reported.

Meanwhile, details obtained from FOX San Antonio state that the man was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, and is under investigation. As part of their response, firefighters conducted a thorough check to ensure the stability of the home.
