In the early hours of June 4, a chase unfolded on Highway 1 as Pacifica Police Officers pursued a stolen Toyota Prius. With assistance from the San Bruno Police Department, the vehicle was successfully intercepted and stopped near the intersection of SR-1 and SR-35, effectively ending a pursuit that originated in Montara.
The driver, identified as 39-year-old Susannah Kathleen Beman of San Francisco, was arrested after police were able to deflate the getaway car's tires quickly. Beman now faces multiple charges, including felony possession of a stolen vehicle and other misdemeanor offenses. The situation was resolved safely despite the potential danger, and no injuries were reported.
According to the Pacifica Police Department, Beman was booked at San Mateo County jail for several violations. These included felony possession of a stolen vehicle, misdemeanor evading a peace officer, and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Along with a warrant out of San Francisco County for burglary and identity theft, Beman also had a substantial felony warrant from San Mateo County for evading police and auto theft.
As the investigation remains ongoing, the Pacifica Police Department is urging anyone with further information to step forward and directly assist in the case. The department has provided a contact number and urged the community to refer to case number 24-1387 with any potential leads that could definitively aid in bringing further clarity to this incident.
