San Marcos police are on the hunt for a man linked to a townhome burglary that took place in mid-May. According to FOX 7 Austin, officers were called to the Telluride Townhomes around 2 p.m. on May 17 after a resident discovered her roommate's backpack, filled with jewelry, oddly placed on her bed. She soon encountered an unexpected sight – a man quickly running out of her roommate's bedroom.
The burglar managed to hastily flee down the stairs and out the back door, but not before being caught on a Ring doorbell camera trying to prematurely open another apartment door. Described as a Black male in his early to mid-20s, about 6 feet tall with a lean muscular build and a crew cut hairstyle, he was wearing a light gray dry-fit shirt paired with dark gray jogger pants at the time of the incident.
The police are now appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the suspect. As reported by CBS Austin, the San Marcos Police Department encourages anyone with information regarding the burglary or the identity of the suspect to make contact by calling their non-emergency number or to directly call Detective Bennett.
With the ongoing investigation, San Marcos police reiterate their request for the public's help. The video footage from the Ring camera may hold the key to swiftly bringing closure to this case. Anyone with possible leads should contact the non-emergency number at 512-753-2108 or Detective Bennett at 512-753-2130.
