Seattle's nightlife and dining scenes are getting a digital boost with the introduction of Good Drinks, a new free initiative aiming to support local bars and restaurants. The Seattle Office of Economic Development (OED) and the Seattle Good Business Network have partnered up to offer an innovative approach to exploring the city's offerings through a digital passport. With this passport, users can collect points by checking into over 20 participating locations in various Downtown areas like Belltown and Pioneer Square, providing an added incentive to patronize local establishments as reported by Seattle's Office of Economic Development.
The Good Drinks launch is set to be a significant event on the local calendar, with a party scheduled for June 5th at Here-After, where interested people can join from 6-9 p.m. Space is limited, and those hoping to attend must RSVP. Partners of the event include Do206, Here-After, and Alaska Airlines. Invited to the celebration, the public can expect to enjoy a taste of what's to come with the Good Drinks program. Markham McIntyre, Seattle Office of Economic Development Director, stressed the vitality of Downtown Seattle and the importance of such initiatives as stated by Seattle.gov's Bottom Line: “Downtown runs on people, and Good Drinks is a great example of how we’re adding more reasons for people to come Downtown to meet up with friends or stay a little longer after work.”
More than just a promotional tool, Good Drinks is a component of Mayor Harrell's broader Downtown Activation Plan. This strategy aims to draw more people into the heart of the city and envisions a vibrant downtown accessible to all citizens, from workers to families. Encouraging exploration and patronage of the local nightlife, entertainment venues, and bars, the program serves as a spotlight on the district's diversity. In sync with this effort, Good Drinks passport users are eligible for prize drawings simply by checking into a location, which may include unique local experiences, according to Seattle's Office of Economic Development.
