In Seguin, Texas, the local government has highlighted one of their own, Abigail "Abbey" Daake, for her exceptional service at the Seguin Public Library. Daake, serving as a library assistant, earned the Employee of the Month honors for March 2024, according to a news release by the City of Seguin.
Described as a team player and a constant source of aid for her colleagues, Abbey has been recognized for routinely stepping up to the plate. Daake has been the steadfast presence ensuring that patrons don't just come and go, but come and find precisely what they looked for. An important detail from City's announcement cites Abbey's volunteerism, especially when things get hectic at the circulation desk.
Abbey involves herself with various facets of the library's operations, from setting up thematic book displays and coordinating with librarians for program planning to crafting the library's activity calendar and taking new staff under her wing for training.
The commendation was presented to Daake by City Manager Steve Parker, with colleagues Katelyn Gonzales, Hannah Farmer, and Silvia Christy joining the felicitations. Parker, along with the Daake's peers, lauded her for the distinction that, they feel, she has well and truly earned. "Abbey is there to assist," as the announcement put it.
