Tragedy struck a San Antonio north-side apartment complex when a 74-year-old woman was found dead under what police are calling 'suspicious circumstances', Fox San Antonio reports. The incident occurred Sunday afternoon and swiftly led to the arrest of a person of interest, who is believed to be the woman's son, in his early 50s.
The San Antonio Police Department responded to the distressing call around 4:30 p.m. they arrived the scene was grim—the woman declared dead amidst the shambles of a family disturbance, and her son, the suspect, had already fled the scene. He was later apprehended without incident, the officers said, along Vance Jackson during a traffic stop, KENS 5 reported.
According to officials, the call that led them to the 3500 block of West Avenue was initially indicated as a family disturbance. No charges have been filed yet in the case as the investigation continues.
One of the victim's daughters conveyed to KENS 5 that her sister had found their mother dead, collapsed on the apartment floor, and at the time of her interview, details about the motive or circumstances leading to the mother's death remained unclear.
