Clackamas County Sheriff's Deputies acted swiftly on Tuesday night following a brazen armed robbery at a local deli and bar. According to a press release from the sheriff's office, Foxy's Lottery Deli and Bar on SE McLoughlin Blvd. was hit by two masked suspects wielding what turned out to be a BB handgun. The pair, a man and woman, entered the establishment just before the clock struck 10:00 p.m. and demanded cash, cigarettes, and a personal wallet from an employee before making their getaway in a stolen, maroon-colored pickup truck.

The chase began soon after the crime was reported, with deputies and Milwaukie Police officers spotting the suspects’ pickup, a maroon 4-door Chevrolet Silverado, in the nearby City of Milwaukie. The pickup, which had been reported as stolen in Portland, led authorities on a brief pursuit. Despite attempts to elude police, the vehicle was apprehended following the strategic use of spike strips and a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver executed as it exited I-205 near SE Highway 212.

The two individuals apprehended were identified as 47-year-old Tara Marie Kornell of Vancouver, WA, and 44-year-old Louis Randulf Prendergast Jr. of Portland. They were taken into custody without further ado and are now facing several charges. Kornell, who was behind the wheel during the escape attempt, is being charged with Robbery in the Second Degree and other related crimes, her bail set at $500,000. Prendergast faces similar accusations with his bail set at $250,000.

Authorities not only managed to retrieve the cash taken during the robbery, but they also found the BB handgun used in the incident within the recovered vehicle. An additional passenger present in the vehicle during the arrest was interviewed by deputies and subsequently released from the scene not facing charges.
