Deputy Scheets, having started his career in the jail in 2003, worked his way up and was promoted to Deputy in 2006, with the Patrol Division being his most recent assignment. Today, CPR was administered by the second Deputy on the scene when Deputy Scheets collapsed, and despite being hurried to the hospital, he later died. His colleagues remember him for his level-headed and consistent nature, qualities that marked his nearly two decades of service.

Deputy Scheets is survived by his wife and family, who, along with the coworkers at Tarrant County, remember him with respect and admiration.
