A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Ahliana Dickey in Lowell, as confirmed by Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Lowell Police Superintendent Greg Hudon. Trevor Bady, a resident of Tewksbury, now faces several charges including murder and armed home invasion. According to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, Bady's other charges consist of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, use of a firearm in a felony, and discharging a firearm within close proximity to a building. He is set for arraignment on these charges in Lowell District Court tomorrow.

Tragedy unfolded when Ahliana Dickey, who was looking forward to her eighth-grade graduation on June 14, 2024, failed to show up for the significant milestone in her life, raising concerns within her family. After attempts to find her were unsuccessful, the family resorted to visiting her home on Lawrence Street. It was there, around 6:10 p.m., that the grim discovery of her body was made, immediately followed by a distress call from the victim's grandmother to the Lowell Police. Upon police arrival, they found young Ahliana, lying with gunshot wounds, life snuffed out far too prematurely.

In what appears to be a gruesome end to a pattern of abuse, investigators have found that Dickey was involved in a toxic relationship with the accused, Bady. This relationship was marked by previous instances of violence and threats. According to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, "Shortly after midnight on June 14, 2024, Lowell Police received a call from an individual on Lawrence Street reporting that a male and female were fighting outside across the street." The caller heard Dickey pleading to be left alone and gunshots in the dark, unsettling silence of the neighborhood.

Responding officers arrived at the scene to find neither party. However, surveillance video obtained later showed a female, identified as the victim, seeking help and a male, later identified as the defendant, leaving the victim’s home shortly after the incident. Furthermore, police gathered that on the night of the murder, Bady had taken an Uber to Dickey’s residence and then from the scene after the alleged crime, with the Uber driver subsequently reporting suspicious behavior by the defendant. Bady was later located and arrested without incident in a Peabody residence.

The Middlesex District Attorney's Office states that the case remains active and is under thorough investigation by local authorities and Massachusetts State Police detectives. Additionally, the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office Warrant Apprehension Unit, Tewksbury, and Nashua Police departments are involved in the ongoing efforts. The prosecutor assigned to Bady's case is Christopher Tarrant, and Renee Leone serves as the victim's witness advocate.
