A Texas couple's leap of faith has led them on a life-altering path to foster parenting, driven by a calling they couldn't ignore. Their journey, as told to the San Antonio Report, began with a move from California to Texas with no concrete plans, only faith.
After a rocky start, which included nights in their car, the pair's luck changed when they were welcomed into a local church community. Here, they found both a roof over their heads and a newfound purpose. Their experience, shared in the San Antonio Report, speaks to the potential of community and faith to catalyze profound change. "During the meeting, we listened to heartfelt stories from foster parents who shared their experiences," the wife recalled, her and her husband’s hearts touched by the testimonies of those already walking this noble path.
It wasn't until the couple crossed paths with Pastor David from the Great Oaks Fellowship Church and heard his sermon on the urgent need for foster families that they considered fostering. Moved by the Pastor's words and the stories of existing foster parents, the couple felt compelled to act, even though fostering was originally off their radar.
They are now part of the South Texas Alliance for Orphans' initiative to launch 200 new foster families this year, as they wait to welcome children into their home. "We hope our journey inspires others to take that leap of faith," the couple told the San Antonio Report.
