Clayton County has seen significant movement on two separate murder cases with the arrests of three suspects, as confirmed by local law enforcement officials. In an unfolding story that started at a Family Dollar store on Riverdale Road and a residence in Riverdale, the apprehension of the individuals has brought some measure of progress in these troubling incidents.
On Thursday night, the Clayton County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Montevious Garrison, wanted in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred on February 2. The scene of the crime, a Family Dollar store at 5425 Riverdale Road, was where 20-year-old Lem Johnson IV was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds. According to Atlanta News First, officials identified Garrison as the suspect and issued arrest warrants for murder during the commission of a felony, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm, and reckless conduct.
Following an alert to a suspicious person, the Newnan Police Department made contact with Garrison, "who was in possession of a dangerous weapon with a switch," stated Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen, as reported by Atlanta News First. Taken into custody without incident, Garrison is currently held at the Coweta County Jail on local charges, awaiting transport to Clayton County Jail.
Moving to another serious incident on April 30, officers were called to a Riverdale residence where they discovered a gruesome scene—an open doorway led them to a victim with gunshot wounds, and blood was found staining the kitchen walls and floor. Details from FOX 5 Atlanta provided the names of the suspects as Saisha Gibson and Jason Jefferson, who faced charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, and home invasion. The duo was arrested on June 6 at a friend's house in DeKalb County, with the assistance of the US Marshal’s Service South Regional Fugitive Task Force and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
Gibson and Jefferson, both of whom were placed on the county's Most Wanted List, are now awaiting their court proceedings in custody at Clayton County Jail. Details surrounding their case and the upcoming legal process continue to develop.
