A devastating apartment fire in Federal Way has tragically claimed the life of a dog, resulted in one person being hospitalized, and displaced a family of eight, including four children. Meanwhile, fire crews are still working to control the blaze that erupted before 1:40 p.m. yesterday. KING5 News reports that upon arrival, emergency responders found one unit within a four-unit building completely engulfed in flames in the 34000 block of First Circle South.
The scope of the fire has left significant destruction, having made the apartment unit uninhabitable and while the flames did not spread to the other units the smoke and water damage have forced multiple evacuations, according to KOMO News, which also shared that a child has been transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the rest of the family are amongst those displaced by the incident.
In the aftermath of the fire, the King County Fire Investigation Unit is committed to uncovering the cause of the blaze, the results of which are pending, and it is expected that the impact of the fire will resonate with the families and individuals who lost their homes or had their sense of security cruelly stripped away.
