A fire that broke out yesterday at a transformer in Aventura, Florida, sparked more than just flames – it ignited a cascade of traffic delays along a busy stretch of Biscayne Boulevard. The blaze resulted in a significant power outage, affecting both traffic and commerce in the area. WSVN reported that the northbound and southbound lanes of Biscayne Boulevard were jammed at multiple intersections, including 178th Street through 183rd Street, as the fire disabled traffic lights at these junctures, causing a scramble as the evening rush hour took full effect.
According to a post from X of Aventura Police, the chaos was managed with the aid of traffic cones to direct the congested roadways after a transformer fire near Del Prado. While the diligent work by the involved crews worked has restored power to all areas, and traffic intersections were reset, earlier, drivers were warned to expect delays as the situation was being addressed by Florida Power & Light officials.
