
Tragedy struck Yuma early Friday morning when two people were killed and three were hospitalized following a severe car crash; Yuma police responded to the scene on 14th Avenue, just west of Interstate 8, where a 16-year-old driver lost control and his vehicle collided with a brick wall, two parked cars, and then a house, as reported by AZfamily.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., the young driver and an 18-year-old woman who was in the front passenger seat sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the crash site, they were not identified the three other passengers that were in the road vehicle at the time of the impact—a 13-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl, and a 12-year-old girl—were taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center, with the two older children later being flown to a Phoenix-area hospital for their serious conditions as detailed on AZfamily.
Investigations are currently pointing to speed and alcohol as the contributing factors to the accident, as per Fox 10 Phoenix. Authorities are urging anyone with further information on the matter to contact the Yuma Police Department immediately.
