
In a late-night eruption of violence at a DeKalb County motel, a woman was shot multiple times, leading to a tense standoff with SWAT teams, FOX 5 Atlanta reported. The incident occurred along Memorial Drive near Rockbridge Road SW, with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office first receiving reports shortly after 10:15 p.m. Officers arrived to a daunting scene, finding the woman critically wounded, and paramedics quickly rushed her to a hospital while the suspect was holed up in a nearby motel.
The standoff ensued as law enforcement secured the area, during which, DeKalb Police called upon their SWAT team to manage the scene and an arrest was made by Saturday, "Our SWAT Team has been requested to the scene to assist with securing the location; Detectives have been notified and are responding as well," explained the DeKalb Police Department in a statement covered by 11Alive. Officials pointed to the son of the woman as the alleged gunman, further igniting the community's shock and need for resolve.
The name of the motel where the suspect was found has not been disclosed, and residents were advised to steer clear of the area until the situation had been neutralized.
