
An investigation is currently underway in Aliquippa, Beaver County, following the shooting of a 17-year-old girl early Wednesday morning. According to WTAE, the incident occurred around 5 a.m. on Irwin Street as the teenager and her boyfriend were stepping out of their car. Shots rang from across the street, prompting an immediate response from local authorities.
"Well, in the summertime, we often play ‘Is it gunfire or fireworks and firecrackers?" Beth Ann stated, as detailed by WPXI. The same neighbor testified hearing multiple shots fired, a sound unmistakable in the dead of night, surmised as gunfire. Responding officers then conducted an extensive search for evidence, collecting shell casings from different firearms at the scene.
The girl sustained injuries from at least one gunshot, though her boyfriend escaped harm. Reports indicated that she was transported to the hospital from the location. While the details of her condition have not been widely disclosed, police have mentioned that the injuries she incurred are not expected to be life-threatening.
Currently, the Pennsylvania State Police have taken over the investigation. No arrests have been reported nor have suspects been named, as investigators work to piece together the events that unfolded early that morning. The identity of the 17-year-old victim has not been released, safeguarding the privacy of the underage involved between hospital walls.
