An 18-year-old suspect has been charged in connection with a shooting that occurred last Friday night at an apartment complex in Houston. The man, identified as Laron Pijeaux, faces charges of burglary with intent to commit a felony, with proceedings set in the 179th State District Court. Hospitalized with gunshot wounds, Pijeaux is currently under medical supervision. An image from Pijeaux's April 2024 booking was released alongside the announcement.
According to the report from the Houston Police Department (HPD), patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting at 10630 Beechnut Street around 11:10 p.m. Upon arrival, they encountered Pijeaux with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics rushed him to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition. HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective C. Brown recounted that Pijeaux was one of several masked and armed individuals who broke into a residence and began shooting. While his accomplices managed to escape, Pijeaux was hit by gunfire.
Further investigation prompted consultation with the Harris County District Attorney's Office, which led to the subsequent charging of Pijeaux in the case. As the investigation continues, details about the other suspects involved in the incident remain scarce.
