A 19-year-old man, identified as Shorbonia Poole Jr., has been charged in the tragic incident involving 15-year-old Valeria Rodriguez, who was fatally struck by a stray bullet inside her Round Lake Beach home. The Lake County Major Crime Task Force has charged Poole with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, a Class 2 felony, raising questions about firearm access among previous offenders and its role in senseless acts of violence. Investigative efforts were followed by a search warrant execution at Poole’s residence, where officials uncovered a semi-automatic handgun.
