Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have arrested 22-year-old Dimas Ramirez in connection with a fatal crash investigation, authorities said. The collision, which previously claimed the life of one individual in the Eastway Division, led to the apprehension of Ramirez on July 8, 2022, following an intensive investigation by the Major Crash Investigation Unit.
According to a statement from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Ramirez faces multiple charges, details which were shared with the public late Wednesday. He is being charged with felony death by motor vehicle, reckless driving, and operating a vehicle without a license or insurance. Following his arrest, Ramirez was interviewed by detectives, and subsequently transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
The charges come as a result of Ramirez's alleged involvement in a collision that had fatal consequences. The CMPD has confirmed that the next of kin of the victim, Mr. Abigail Romero, have been notified about the arrest. The department, however, has not released further details about the circumstances leading up to the crash or the investigation that ensued.
