
A 60-year-old woman was hospitalized in critical condition after a fire tore through a mobile home in central Las Vegas on Friday evening. According to 8 News Now, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. in the 2700 block of Stewart Avenue, near Eastern Avenue, where Las Vegas Fire & Rescue quickly responded to the emergency call.
The rescue team managed to extract the woman from the burning structure and transport her to a local hospital, her state at the time was deemed to be precarious and as of the latest report the firefighters' efforts against the conflagration followed close on the heels of an eventful Fourth of July, which saw additional fires damaging homes in the Las Vegas valley and injuring two firefighters in the process while they combated blazes at a townhome in the east of the valley.
Collaborative efforts were crucial as Las Vegas Fire & Rescue joined forces with Clark County Fire Department and North Las Vegas Fire Department to contain and extinguish the mobile home fire. A report by KTNV noted that the responders arrived on the scene swiftly, around five minutes post the initial call, demonstrating a prompt and coordinated response across departments.
While the victim, now in care at UMC Trauma, battles for recovery, the cause of the fire has yet to be determined as LVFR investigators continue to delve into the origins of the blaze, looking to uncover what may have sparked such a destructive event officials stressed the importance of community vigilance and fire safety especially in the wake of recent festivities that traditionally pose an increased fire risk.
