A homicide investigation is unfolding in the North Division as Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) detectives have made a significant development.
The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Daniel Gomez, whose family has been notified of his tragic passing. The case took a decisive turn on Monday, when the CMPD arrested 62-year-old Luis Gonzalez in connection to the homicide. Following a detailed interview at the Law Enforcement Center in Uptown, Gonzalez was charged with voluntary manslaughter and transferred to the custody of Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the CMPD's official statement, the investigation is still very much alive and further details will emerge as they ascertain more information.
