Accounts obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta from resident Diamond Christina, who witnessed the incident, revealed that the boy was amongst three children, presumably all under ten, who had ventured into the pool area without adult supervision. Christina reported that she saw the kids jumping in and out of the water in the pool's deep end. Concerned by the boy's behavior in the water, she raised the alarm to another child in the group, who dismissed the boy's struggle as playfulness.
However, it was the skepticism of Christina that may have made all the difference. "Girl, I don't think your brother is playing, you need to get in the water and help him," she told the girl. Yet such are the imbalances of life and fear that Christina, along with another woman present, felt unable to retrieve the boy themselves.
