Chaos erupted on the streets of Pittsburgh yesterday evening when an alleged vehicle theft turned into a dramatic crash scene involving multiple cars and a city EMS vehicle. The incident began around 5:30 p.m. when Pittsburgh Police from Zone 3 attempted to stop a white SUV reported as stolen. The unfolding drama took place near the busy junction of West Warrington Avenue and Saw Mill Run Boulevard/Route 51, a statement released by the City of Pittsburgh Public Safety Department.
The situation escalated rapidly as the police lights flashed to signal a stop, the adult male driver of the stolen SUV attempted a vain escape that resulted in an immediate crash striking a white sedan and a black SUV, the collision forcing both vehicles to be subsequently towed away from the mayhem left in their wake due to the damage sustained. Pittsburgh EMS Medic 2 was also caught up in the turmoil, although it reportedly suffered minimal harm in the fracas.
Post-collision, the occupants of the ill-fated SUV—a man and a woman—abandoned the vehicle and endeavored to flee on foot. The female passenger was soon apprehended and taken into custody by the officers at the scene, with charges pending against her. Unfortunately, her male counterpart successfully eluded the authorities and remains at large as the search continues.
Remarkably, despite the potential for serious injury in such chaotic scenarios, there were no injuries reported from the incident.
