The Arizona Department of Health Services has issued a voluntary recall for a batch of marijuana sold in Arizona over concerns that it could be contaminated with a pesticide known as piperonyl butoxide. The specific product in question is the DIME Mint OG, with the batch number MOGBL0405, according to a FOX 10 Phoenix report. The recall was initiated after the marijuana was found positive for the pesticide during a routine Department inspection.

Dime Industries, which does business as Nature's Wonder and operates four dispensaries in the Valley, was the subject of the recall. Having sold the DIME Mint OG product, the dispensaries have been advised to remove the product from their shelves, and the Department recommends that consumers who have purchased the recalled marijuana should dispose of it. As of yet, no illnesses related to the recall have been reported, with the information provided by the Phoenix New Times.

Piperonyl butoxide, the pesticide in question, is designed to enhance the effectiveness of insecticides and has been utilized in various pesticide products since the 1950s, according to the National Pesticide Information Center. Although the chemical can cause skin irritation, tingling, burning, itching, stinging, numbness, and warmth in cases of lower exposure, higher exposure may lead to more severe symptoms such as abnormal facial sensations, dizziness, salivation, headaches, fatigue, vomiting, diarrhea, and sensitivity to sound and touch, as detailed by FOX 10 Phoenix.

The Department advises that if anyone has consumed the recalled product and is displaying symptoms, they should seek prompt medical care or contact their healthcare provider. Further queries about the product can be referred to the purchase point, the dispensary or establishment. Exhibiting a response to consumer safety, Dime Industries did not respond to a request for comment, as mentioned by the Phoenix New Times. This incident marks the second recall in Arizona this year, following a similar situation in May when The Flower Shop recalled a batch of its product due to possible fungal contamination.
