A man has been detained in Arlington on kidnapping charges after an incident involving his ex-girlfriend, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office disclosed. According to Action News 5, Tedrick Hall, 35, was first reported to have approached the victim outside an Arlington restaurant, attempting to speak with her inside before she exited.
Hall is accused of then following the woman to her car and forcefully entering it while armed with a handgun. He compelled her to drive to a separate restaurant location in Cordova. In a harrowing turn of events, the victim managed to surreptitiously escape to the restroom and was able to discreetly call a family member for help. This family member immediately alerted the Memphis Police, who went on to detain Hall until sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene.
Upon arresting Hall, the responding deputies found not only a Glock handgun but also Hall’s personal belongings in the victim's vehicle, as reported by WREG. Hall is now facing multiple charges, including aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Details about the incident have been further corroborated by FOX13 Memphis, confirming the events as described by the sheriff's office. According to a statement from the sheriff's office, "Hall's ex-girlfriend left the restaurant where he began following her car then entered the passenger side of her car with a gun." The victim's quick thinking and subsequent coordination between her family and law enforcement prevented what could have potentially been an even darker outcome.
As of now, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office hasn't released any more details regarding the motive or the current status of the victim. What remains clear is that Tedrick Hall is in custody and is due to face the justice system for a serious string of alleged crimes.
