Yesterday, 19-year-old Jehron Keys was arrested in Athens for a kidnapping and associated crimes. The arrest came following a string of erratic incidents including a child molestation and multiple hit-and-runs. The young victim involved in the suspected kidnapping was quickly sought medical attention at a local hospital, with no current updates on their health status. Keys, who hails from Lawrenceville, is now facing a litany of charges, including kidnapping, child molestation, statutory rape, reckless driving, and several others related to the vehicular incidents, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.
Authorities responded to the kidnapping alert around 5 a.m. near Highland Park Drive. Not long after, the suspect's ventures led to Westchester Drive, where the grisly hit-and-runs occurred. Atlanta News First notes that Keys was slapped with additional counts related to the vehicular chaos, including three counts of hit-and-run, failing to maintain a lane, and unsafe tires.
The Athens-Clarke County Police Department, spearheading an ongoing inquiry, has called upon the public for any further insight into these harrowing crimes. Detective Shapland, a point of contact for information, can be reached at [email protected] or via phone at (762) 400-7198.
