According to their account, the suspect forced entry through the drive-thru window and escaped with a cash tray around 8:30 a.m. on June 29, 2024, at the location on 2091 Metropolitan Parkway, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. Surveillance footage showed the suspect’s desperate reach into the familiar space of the workers, where food and pleasantries, not typically crime, are exchanged.
The incident took an even more serious turn, as described by the recounted sequence captured by high-definition cameras. They captured an individual engaging in a struggle inside the premises as the McDonald's employee opened the window, likely to facilitate the day's mundane transactions. The individual subsequently fled with a cash drawer in tow. According to Atlanta News First, witnesses saw the man absconding from the scene in a black crossover vehicle.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. The Atlanta Police Department, dealing with the case's sensitivity, is offering a $2,000 reward for details leading to the arrest of the man in question. The police provided a tip line at Crime Stoppers Atlanta, (404) 577-8477, seeking such assistance openly. As driving away, the suspect is believed to have headed westbound toward Lakewood Avenue.
