Early Tuesday morning, the quiet of Auburn was cut by the sound of gunshots, leading to a response by local authorities. According to FOX 13 Seattle, the Auburn Police Department dispatched officers to the corner of 120th Ave. SE and SE 318th Pl, shortly before 2 a.m., in response to 911 calls of multiple gunshots. Upon their arrival, police learned that a 39-year-old woman, now identified as the shooting victim, was receiving treatment at a nearby hospital for a gunshot wound.
Investigations thus far suggest that the incident was birthed from a dispute within an apartment, which rapidly devolved into an armed confrontation. While detailed information about the woman's present condition has not been made public, authorities indicated that she is cooperating with the investigation. It has been confirmed by FOX 13 Seattle there have been no arrests in the case yet.
The Auburn Police, delving deeper into the circumstances of the event, held that there might have been an altercation inside an apartment which then escalated, as told by the police to KOMO News. This led to an unfortunate exchange of gunfire, wherein the victim was struck. While investigators have an idea of the suspect's identity, the search for the perpetrator is ongoing.
