The crash, involving an SUV and a motorcycle, claimed the life of Samantha Spears, a white female born on September 19, 1993, according to an official release from the Austin Police Department, those in the vehicle remained unharmed, stayed at the scene, and are aiding the ongoing investigation by law enforcement.
Currently marked as Austin's 41st fatal crash of the year, this event brings the city's total number of fatalities in 2024 to 43—a contrast to the previous year's statistics at this time, which documented 51 fatal crashes and an equal number of fatalities.
