An Austin man tragically lost his life after a drowning incident in Nolan Creek in Belton. The event occurred on Monday evening, with the Belton Police Department responding to a call around 8:48 p.m. near Liberty Park. According to KXAN, witnesses reported seeing Arturo Chagolla, 55, jump in to swim before being overcome by the current.
Despite efforts to quickly rescue and revive Chagolla, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman made the official declaration of Chagolla's passing.
As reported by KXXV, police have confirmed that Chagolla's next of kin were notified following the incident.
