The Austin community is grappling with the somber news that the body of 70-year-old Anne Ringold, a recently reported missing person, has been positively identified by the Travis County Medical Examiner (TCME). According to the City of Austin, there is no suspicion of foul play at this juncture, although the exact cause of death remains to be determined by TCME. While this clarifies one tragic outcome, the circumstances surrounding Ms. Ringold's disappearance still leave unanswered questions in the hands of APD's active death investigation.
Initially, the APD had reached out to the public hoping to quickly locate Ringold after she went missing on June 24, as per the City of Austin. She was last observed ambling eastbound on Sandra Muraida Way, accompanied by her distinctive wheeled cart and a black bag.
As detailed by the City of Austin, Ms. Ringold, described by APD as a white female, just under five feet tall and weighing approximately 90 pounds, was known for her short, straight brown hair and a prominent zipper scar down her torso. In their initial plea for assistance, APD had detailed her last known appearance including her protective face mask, a white or tan bucket hat, a plaid shirt, light blue jeans, and brown shoes.
