
Tragedy struck in the early hours of the morning on July 18, as Austin Police Department officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Burton Drive following a distressing call that came at about 2:01 a.m.; a caller reported an attempt on his friend's life which turned out to be fatal.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers, alongside emergency medical services, discovered the body of a man named Jose Ramon Lizarraga Boca Negra inside the residence, with a gunshot wound that ended his life, the victim, a Hispanic male born on March 28, 1985, was pronounced deceased on-scene. The investigation into the shooting incident is ongoing and the situation surrounding the apparent homicide involves the suspect fleeing the area after committing the crime.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists have processed the crime scene and conducted interviews with potential witnesses, as they work to piece together the events that led to the death of Jose Ramon Lizarraga Boca Negra, an incident that's marked as Austin's 34th homicide of the year 2024 according to an official statement released by the Austin Police Department.
