Authorities are reaching out to the public for aid in apprehending suspects involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision that happened on the Northwest Freeway earlier this week. The incident, which left one driver dead, occurred at approximately 10:05 a.m. on July 23, according to a statement released by the office of Constable Mark Herman on Facebook. The crash investigation revealed a sizeable box truck or cargo van that failed to stop and collided with the rear of a car, fatally injuring the individual behind the wheel.
Following the crash, witnesses reported observing at least three Hispanic males exit the vehicle, assess the extent of the wreckage, and then proceed to flee the scene before the authorities arrived. These actions have prompted law enforcement to solicit the public's aid in locating the suspects and the vehicle involved. The vehicle in question is described as a large 20 to 24-foot box truck or cargo van last seen heading east on the Northwest Freeway nearing the on-ramps to the Sam Houston Toll Road.
"If anyone has information on the wanted suspect vehicle, driver, or any dash camera video that might show the collision, please contact our office or your local law enforcement," urged Constable Mark Herman. The plea for public cooperation signals an effort to advance the ongoing investigation and bring some measure of justice to the situation.
